However, on the 16” vs 20” question, go 20” because the 16” with Mid-Length gas has been problematic. I had to switch the buffer spring to an M4 spring for it to be reliable on gas setting 2. If .308 is twice the cost over a .223 for you then you can shoot .223 twice as much for the same amount of money. If this is your first rifle then get something that is likely to run correctly right out of the box or accept that you might have to do some work if you go SFAR to get it where you are happy.
